  • The Benefits of Civil Mediation

As a Certified NC Superior Court Mediator, my role is to facilitate a successful negotiation process by helping parties identify issues, maintaining an orderly environment for exploring needs and goals, and aiding in problem-solving. A mediation session will give all parties the opportunity to

    1) express feelings and diffuse anger,

    (2) clear up areas of misunderstanding,

    (3) determine underlying interests or concerns,

    (4) find areas of agreement, and, ultimately,

    (5) incorporate these areas into solutions devised by the parties themselves.

In most cases, parties find this process highly preferable to a drawn out, expensive, and unpredictable legal suit that will be decided by a judge.
